Ayurveda Winter Sanctuary is something I have created because of my own struggles with seasonal depression. Ayurvedic medicine has been around for over 5000 years teaching us a relationship with our body, which also reflects in our environment. In Ayurveda, winter carries specific energies such as, cold, dry, heavy, slow, dark and still. Our Doshas, (three fundamental energies or biological forces that govern the body and mind) are impacted by winter which if imbalanced can cause, anxiety, depression, grief that feels sticky, fatigue, dry or tight bodies, ect. However, if balanced, you can feel creative, light, inspired, rooted, grounded and strong. I feel this is important to for people to know how to nurture and care for their bodies based on the season and the nature around them to live their best lives and feel connected to the Earth Mother.

Students will learn about the winter Doshas to balance the airy anxiety and the heavy lethargy with simple lifestyle adjustments. I will also provide cozy recipes to nurture and strengthen the bones as well as calm the nervous system. We will practice Sukshma Movements (Gentle Yoga) to learn how to thaw the body in the mornings and get your blood circulating to start your day as well as Mudras and Breathing practice to quiet a racing mind and foster deep, internal stillness. A winter toolkit will be provided with suggestions of daily practice, warming foods, guided meditations, and self-oiling (Abhyanga).
I feel that I am the ideal instructor because this is more than just information, this is a way of life for me and it has changed my life. I know these practices work and I always provide many different options so that my students can flow and create their own specialized routine and lifestyle. I am passionate about teaching others how to listen to your body and also to give yourself grace. An imbalance means our body needs a different type of listening not that something is wrong. I have studied mudras and certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor by Yogamu Institute and have taught classes at the studio I currently work at. I am doing this series in person but I would love to bring it online as well as continue with the rest of the seasons.
The class is designed to be a fully immersive experience:
Sanctuary Prep: 48 hours before we meet, you’ll receive a "Winter Guide" with your recipe and a list of simple items (like a cozy blanket or specific spices) to have nearby.
Live Ritual: We will brew our recipe, I will teach a lecture on the subject matter and theme of the class, we will move our bodies, and meditate together in real-time, creating a sense of community warmth.
Interactive Learning: The session includes live demonstrations of mudras and breathwork, with time for questions to ensure you feel confident in your new practices.
